Abstract

This research aims to determine the ability to write scientific papers of students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Indonesian Community Development University and the factors that influence it. This research is a type of qualitative research. The data sources used for this research study are students and their scientific articles published in journals. Meanwhile, the approach used in this research is philosophical. The data collection techniques used were interviews and documentation. To direct the accuracy and correctness of the data studied, the analysis method used is content analysis. The findings of this research indicate that the competency of FKIP UPMI students in writing scientific papers is still low. In writing, most of them do not heed the guidelines and rules for writing scientific papers, and the level of plagiarism is very high. The research results show that the competency of FKIP UPMI students in writing scientific papers is still relatively low. Most students do not comply with the guidelines and rules of scientific writing, with a high level of plagiarism. Based on the findings, the biggest challenges faced by students in writing scientific papers are difficulties in finding references and lack of knowledge about writing techniques. Factors that cause these difficulties include low motivation to write, lack of self-confidence, low interest in reading, lack of curiosity of scientific writing.
